Ernie answered all my concerns and questions and I understood exactly what was involved.

Wolverine Orthotics was recommended to me by my foot surgeon as the condition of both feet was not a diagnosis that surgery would solve. An orthotic was the only solution.

I explained to Ernie in detail the pain and medical diagnoses of my bilateral foot problems. Ernie then explained the type of correction that was needed with a foot orthotic, and how the anatomy of my bones, nerves, high arches, and other foot anatomy would be helped. He answered all my concerns and questions and I understood exactly what was involved.

Three weeks after my initial appointment I received my orthotics with a daily schedule for wearing times to build up adjustment to the new orthotic. I was instructed to do daily foot and leg exercises. I have noticed improvement in my foot comfort level. I realize how important it is to do the recommended exercises daily and look forward to a better walking experience with the orthotics and a decrease in thelevel of foot pain I have encountered for over one year now. I have a follow-up visit in three months to see how I am doing.

One of the best things I can say about Ernie is that he LISTENS... really listens.

I was referred to Ernie and Wolverine Orthotics in 2010 by my podiatrist. I had a lot of pain in my feet, knees, and lower back. I was stiff – tripping on non-existent things and using my hand on stair treads when coming up stairs. That doctor had tried several different orthotics and several different shoe styles but nothing was helping.

During my first appointment with Ernie I was surprised and impressed by what he felt were my problems and the different answers he suggested. He felt the issues were originating from my muscular skeletal system and suggested right away that I get new custom orthotics done by casting, try a totally different style of shoe, and go to physical therapy… one particular therapist who he felt could help me. They made a great team along with 2 different doctors. It was discovered that I had a lot of inflammation throughout my body and that was contributing to the muscular/skeletal stiffness. He treated the immediate pain and had a plan for treating the lifelong causes of the pain.

I still see Ernie every 5 weeks for adjustments on my orthotics because I break them down so quickly. Through the years Ernie has used a variety of materials for the orthotics, did what he called “Drill and Fill” on shoes where he inserted a gel-like substance into the front of the shoe, and suggested different shoes as my body changed.

One of the best things I can say about Ernie is that he LISTENS… really listens. He doesn’t have a preconceived idea of what is wrong. I’ve had times when my feet went numb. After telling Ernie and explaining what I was feeling in my words, he suggested elastic laces. They eliminated the numbness without me needing medical tests or procedures.

Ernie has communicated with the PT and the shoe store on my behalf. He has taught me the importance of proper gait, correct alignment, and stretching. He keeps me moving and enjoying life which for me includes line dancing and yoga.

Walking into Wolverine Orthotics is such a great pleasure. Ernie is so knowledgeable, empathetic, and professional, but also listens and thinks “outside the box.” From being greeted at the door by Melissa and Deb, my appointment with Ernie, and my check out, I’m treated like family and I am able to stay active and live the life I love.

Ernie takes as much time as required to ensure problems are solved and the patient is happy.

After using commercial orthotics in my shoes for knee, hip and back problems, my physical therapist recommended seeing Ernie at Wolverine Orthotics. At the first visit he patiently explained in lay terms the musculoskeletal system and the role the foot plays.

Unlike other experiences, there was no hard sell. As a professional skilled Orthotist, he presented the options and it was clear to me custom orthotics would resolve much of my problems.

An impression was made of my feet from which molds and then orthotics were made. When I returned to pick up the orthotics, Ernie checked to see the fit was correct and I walked out with them on. After a break-in period, I am wearing them continuously and transferring them when I change shoes. Also, I’m storing the molds for when I want future pairs. Follow up visits were scheduled to ensure the continuing functionality of the inserts.

It is clear that Ernie cares about his patients. He takes as much time as required to ensure problems are solved and the patient is happy.

Ernie can watch you walk and see what he needs to do to fix your problem.

Going to Wolverine Orthotics after many years of suffering to walk after multiple hip operations and from bad surgeries leaving me with many painful issues. I received the most relief of any therapy and any rehab I tried.

Dr. Bastian or Ernie as I call him is highly skilled at his job. He can watch you walk and see what he needs to do to fix your problem. This doctor is amazing and his staff too (Melissa) is my favorite. I would and have given Wolverine Orthotics’ number to friends, family, and other doctors seeking help for their walking issues.

I would like to close with a thank you and to thank God for giving Ernst Bastian a gift to heal others. Love you guys.

Your skill as an orthotist may only be topped by your passion for your work and your dedication to the best patient care possible.

Dear Ernie,

I just wanted to let you know that I am retiring!!!! Before I go though, I wanted to thank you and your entire office for the excellent care you have provided for my patients over the years. Sometimes it was a hard sell to get someone to drive all the way to Novi, but once they did they realized it was well worth it. Your skill as an orthotist may only be topped by your passion for your work and your dedication to the best patient care possible.

So thank you on behalf of all my patients (and Jane)…

Sincerely,

Terri Steppe, DO

There isn't a better, more considerate and caring office.

I have been going to Wolverine Orthotics for several years and I can’t say enough wonderful things about Ernie and every single person that works there. It is the only place I would ever use and highly recommend it to anyone who has foot or leg issues. I only wish every office would be run as efficiently.

There isn’t a better, more considerate and caring office. Truly, a big thanks to all of you!
