Our participation with ABC signifies our dedication to delivering superior orthotic services, as we adhere to guidelines set forth by ABC. By achieving and maintaining this accreditation, we guarantee that our patients receive care of the utmost quality, characterized by professionalism, expertise, and a commitment to excellence in the field of orthotics.
A healthcare professional specializing in the management of comprehensive orthotic treatment plans, and is accredited through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC). Certified Orthotists excel in providing comprehensive patient care across all styles of orthoses. In order to become certified in the discipline, practitioners must:
Graduate with a Master’s degree from an accredited O&P program
Complete an Orthotic focused residency with a clinic that is accredited through ABC and the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education.
Pass three comprehensive board exams
Maintain their certified status through ABC’s “Continuing Education Requirements”
A health care professional who is specifically educated and trained in the provision of certain prefabricated orthoses, and is accredited through the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC). Certified Fitters are qualified to perform all aspects of patient care, including formulation and implementation of treatment plans. In order to become certified in the discipline, practitioners must:
Complete ABC’s approved orthotic fitter pre-certification education course and pass the course exam
Must complete one of the following clinical experiences:
** Completion of 1,000 hours of supervised orthotic fitting patient care experience
** Completion of 500 hours of supervised orthotic fitting patient care experience AND Must currently hold a nationally recognized certification/license in a related allied health profession (e.g., Medical Assistant, Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist/PTA, Occupational Therapist/OTA, etc.) to apply under this pathway.
Maintain their certified status through ABC’s “Continuing Education Requirements”
